Online dating: A new niche for all

Online dating sites such as Match.com and eHarmony draw millions with a promise of replacing chance meetings on the office elevator with a targeted computer search for a soul mate. Now there's Prescription4Love.com, a dating Web site ''for people with special conditions.''
Launched in 2006, Prescription4Love was created by Ricky Durham in memory of his brother, James Keith Durham, who died in 2004 after a 15-year battle with Crohn's disease.
''He couldn't meet people,'' remembers Durham. ''He had a colostomy bag, so he didn't feel comfortable meeting people.'' Things might have been different, Durham believes, if his brother had been able to find somebody who shared - and understood - his illness. The Web site allows users to do just that by searching according to different conditions, such as AIDS, infertility and obesity.

Online Dating Site Match.com Goes Mobile

There's really no stopping the transition of web services into the mobile web. Now, even online dating sites, such as Match.com gets their own mobile version.

Match.com, one of the web's pioneering online dating sites will be launching an interface for mobile users. MatchMobile will allow users to receive text messages to their mobile phones whenever another Match member sends them an e-mail. Matchmobile, which will be initially available in the United States, UK and Canada, will also allow subscribers to search for potential matches on their mobile phones. The service will also be available in other nine countries at the end of the year.

So, for those who can't get enough of dating services on their PCs, now they can stay in-touch with their networks in Match.com and monitor possible matches even when they are on the go.
